About Us
So what does 3vkg mean?
It stands for 3 Vets Knife & Gear, started by 3 veteran friends who couldn’t afford all the nice camping gear that we wanted…So we just started making it. With that we found how much we enjoyed forging, especially floral work. Over the next few years we developed our technique, intentionally breaking dozens of knives for testing, worked on fit and finish and began selling what we made at craft and gun shows in the local area.
while creating knife, tool & sword designs, we also began pefecting flowers. Starting with steel roses, we then branched out (lol) to tiger lillies and peace lillies while adding copper & brass to our material line up. eventually we began adding planters, plant hangers and general garden decor to the line up.
Today we are proud to offer the best heavy use knives. Be it a production model or one of our custom pieces. A small knife or full sword, we are happy to help.
While our blades are ready to work for you, our floral work is built to be as accurate as possible, able to withstand the elements with minimal maintainence. from a single flower to a small bouquet to even the largest sculptures.
Our prior custom work includes historical swords, anvil heat treating, matching filet knives for deep sea fishing, bouquets for grave markers, reforging old family tools, large floral sculptures and several different animals. Check out our gallery for a full list of past work
Be it a good blade, beautiful decor, heat treating services or custom work we are ready to help bring your ideas to life
So Who's Actually Making Stuff?
Mitch
He’s the owner & head smith. He’s the guy you’ll talk to on the phone, see at shows and will be making your order. He was a cannon crew member, electrician and then gate operator tech in the union. This coupled with a barebones scavenger survival/bushcraft training approach..Because, yeah thats super fun…Has given him a chance to use and severely abuse different knife designs, plus unfortunately learn how to design a handle so you’re less likely to take off your fingertip with your work knife
Ryan
He’s the moral compass and the muscle. A philosophy professor and competitive body builder. Going for a doctorate with multiple deployments under his belt, broke his hip in a poo river (wadi..iykyk) on patrol he’s the literal warrior poet. Second hand at the anvil, all heavy forging 3/4+” has his mark. His combat and deployment experience is invaluable for a well rounded knife design and that “ive been shot at’ military humor adds a bit a flair to art and sculpture work
George
He’s the methodical and organized one. HVAC tech in industrial and large commercial settings and a former active duty MP in Hawaii and NY, as well as a stint in Cuba..He brings valuable law enforcement experiance to the table. His ability to stay organized and not lose his mind with Mitch moving stuff everywhere is also pretty good. He’s also the third man on extra heavy forging and striking team work. George does some of the best hand sanding in the shop.
